DDR-Recipe: Pear Casserole

Autumn time is pear time. The delicious fruits are easy to be transformed into a pear casserole that is quickly done. A recipe for the whole family. by Janine Henschel (13 Sep 2019)

Ingredients for the Pear Casserole 

  • 6 pears
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 50g chopped almonds
  • juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon backing powder
  • 1 tablespoons margarine
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • icing sugar for dusting

 

Preparation of the Pear Casserole

  • peel the pears, remove fruit stones and quarter the fruits
  • beat the white of the egg together with lemon juice and salt until stiff
  • mix the sugar, flour, almonds, yolks and baking powder with the whipped egg whites
  • pour the mixture into a greased and fire-proof baking form
  • press the pear-quarters into the dough 
  • bake the pear casserole at medium heat
  • dust with icing sugar before serving

Tip: The pear casserole can be served with hot chocolate sauce.
