Prices for guided tours apply to groups of up to 20 persons.

Our Educational Services brochure provides all the important information you need. We provide free-of-charge quiz sheets to download, which school children can use to work their way through the exhibition in an independent but structured fashion. Answer sheets are available from the entrance desk.

The DDR Museum is located in the former centre of East German power. A one-hour museum tour is followed by a further hour visiting the site of the former Palace of the Republic, the Council of State and the Headquarters of the Socialist Unity Party.

The Karl-Marx-Allee

A one-hour tour of the DDR Museum is followed by a two-hour tour of East Germany‘s most prestigious boulevard. Designed to embody the victory of Socialism, the Stalin-era flats actually provided the starting point of the workers’ uprising of 17 June 1953.

The people's uprising of the 17th June 1953

Sixty years after the first mass uprising in the Eastern Bloc, this three- hour tour traces the course of events unfolding on those violent days. Taking its participants to the original locations of protest and repression, the tour remembers the 55 victims who died for the cause of freedom.

Eyewitness talks

Talks from contemporary eyewitnesses of the DDR offer a first-hand account of everyday life in East Germany. Audiences can ask questions of the speakers and gain a vivid appreciation of the special quality of life in East Germany. We can provide eyewitnesses to speak on almost any aspect of life in the DDR. Popular topics include everyday life in the DDR, school life, work, their oppositional activities and imprisonment by the Stasi.

Eyewitness talks are also available in a number of foreign languages.
