DDR Museum is most popular sight in Berlin

Berlin, October 13, 2020 – At the end of September 2020, the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) published the results of an online survey on the 100 most popular travel destinations for international guests in Germany. The DDR Museum is proud to be listed as the best-rated sight in Berlin and in 47th place in the overall ranking. Here you get an overview of all results.

According to a press release from the GNTB, between November 2019 and July 2020, more than 13,000 people from 50 countries took part in the survey for Germany's TOP 100 destinations. In spite of the Covid-19 pandemic and the associated travel restrictions, potential international guests are interested in Germany as a travel destination.

The DDR Museum celebrated its 14th birthday on July 15, 2020 and has been welcoming more than half a million visitors from Berlin, Germany and around the world every year since 2012. As one of the first museums in the city, it reopened its doors at the beginning of May after being closed for seven weeks as part of the decisions made by the Berlin Senate in the fight against the spread of Covid-19. Since then, it has not only opened the small special exhibition »Palace of the Republic«, but also published the first two volumes of the collection trilogy »GDR in Objects 1949-1990«, in which the world's largest museum DDR collection is presented scientifically.
