»There is a time for everything« – Book Premiere

Saving the decaying historic city centres had been one of the topics of the GDR's civil rights movement since the 1980s. But even employees of the responsible administrations were aware of the problems and tried to save old buildings from demolition. After reunification, an extensive federal and state programme for the redevelopment of the old town began. Since 2019, this complex topic has been the focus of the »Stadtwende« project, which has produced a touring exhibition and an anthology. Two of the project staff and book authors will present their research findings for discussion.
