In the early 1970s, the DEFA Studio for Documentary Films launched the »Disko-Filme« (eng. Disco Films) series. The clips, produced on 35mm film, were played in discotheques or shown in cinemas as a supporting program. Between 1975 and 1981, a total of 41 short music films were made. DEFA was thus ahead of its time. One of the most famous pop videos shown on GDR television is »Mann im Mond« (eng. Man in the Moon) from 1987 with IC Falkenberg. The documentary »Popvideos in der DDR« (eng. Popvideos in der DDR) was commissioned by MDR and will be shown that evening. Afterwards there will be a discussion with the filmmaker and IC Falkenberg.
