The »Platte« has become the enduring urban development feature of the DDR. In this new publication, the housing series are now systematically presented for the first time. Beginning with the first experimental building in 1953, the development up to the construction of complex large housing estates in the 1970s and 1980s is described. According to the party's guidelines, industrial housing construction was to solve the housing question as a social problem. The editor of the anthology, Philipp Meuser, and Wolf-Rüdiger Eisentraut, who was involved in the development of WBS 70 as well as other central building projects, will present the research results of the two-volume work during the evening.
