With the third volume, »Work, Economics and Politics,« the DDR Museum concludes its trilogy »GDR in Objects.« The publication focuses on key areas of GDR society – from ideology and political power to the world of work and agriculture to education and healthcare. Over 1,000 colour illustrations are presented in ten thematic chapters. Thirty-three objects are highlighted as examples and placed in their historical context with explanatory texts. The selection follows the principle of making everyday life comprehensible through authentic objects. All exhibits come from the extensive collection of the DDR Museum. This volume paints a vivid picture of life in the GDR, based on facts and scientific research. A standard work for anyone interested in the history of the GDR.
