A chapter of German-German history is closed. The Palace of the Republic is only a memory. In its place stands a new building with the old palace facade, in which the Humboldt Forum has found its place. Now it's time to look back. Was the demolition of the palace the obliteration of a piece of East German identity? Was there no alternative to this path or where there other possibilities? What forms of memory of the Palace of the Republic are appropriate?
