Picture talk and book presentation »Digedags and Abrafaxe«

»Old series« or »new series«? This was often not only a generational question, but also a question of faith among the real fans of these comics. The Digedags and, from 1976, the Abrafaxe - as the heroes of the popular Mosaic booklets were called – were so similar that this dispute may seem surprising today. Created in 1955 by graphic artist Hannes Hegen, Mosaik was the first and most important GDR comic and a socialist alternative to Mickey Mouse and Co. The adventures of the three goblins Dig, Dag and Digedag or Abrax, Brabax and Califax offered children and young people access to the wide world outside the time and space of the GDR. In his lecture on the 100th birthday of Hannes Hegen, Matthias Friske takes the audience on an exciting journey through the history of the mosaic, which leads beyond reunification to the present day.

Dr Matthias Friske, Protestant pastor, Salzwedel
