The social change in the East associated with the end of the GDR and German reunification has many facets and faces: the new political conditions or the rupture in many life stories that continues to have an impact today. Holger Herschel's twelve photographic series from different phases of the upheaval can be understood as a kind of visual archaeology. In dialogue with the images, the various essays take us to places that are undergoing transformation, show people caught between old and new certainties, and illuminate the interiors of a changing material culture. On the evening, editors Jürgen Danyel and Holger Herschel will present the text and image volume published by Ch. Links Verlag.
