The DDR Museum is joining in the celebrations
As part of the »DEFA 80« anniversary weekend, the DDR Museum is screening the award-winning feature film »Alle meine Mädchen« from 1980. The film was directed and written by Iris Gusner. The film, produced by »Deutsche Film AG«, was released in GDR cinemas in 1980 and opened the first National Feature Film Festival of the GDR in Karl-Marx-Stadt that same year. There, it was awarded the Audience Jury Prize.
The plot centres on Ralf Päschke, a directing student at the film school. He is tasked with making a documentary for East German television about a women’s brigade at the NARVA light bulb factory in Berlin. The result is a film about filmmaking itself, which also offers insights into the everyday working lives of workers in the GDR.
»Alle meine Mädchen« impresses with its distinctive narrative style and the protagonists’ impressive acting performances. The film offers a nuanced perspective on collective labour and individual viewpoints within the industrial daily life of the GDR.
