Every now and again I search through the internet for foreign language offers for those who are interested in German history and especially in GDR history. Sometimes I find some, sometimes not. Today I was once again successful. This time I found something interest about German history in general.

The Federal Agency for Civic Education offers numerous publications about the political system and the history of Germany, the most of them are in German, but sometimes they publish also something in English. One of these English publications I want to present you today: It is the timeline “German history: 1914 to 1990”.

This timeline shows descriptive the German history from 1914 to 1990. With drawings accentuated you can learn a lot about the developments in Germany from the beginning of the First World War till the German Reunification. A big part of the timeline shows also the history of the German division, but I think also the historical developments before the division are important to understand the way to the second German state.

The timeline gives a good review for all who are working with German history or who are in general interested in it. I think it is also an interesting publication for students and teachers, because you can get to know the history of Germany in a short space of time. And if you are especially interested in one specific topic you can find there a short cue and do some research after looking at the timeline.

If you are interested in that timeline you can order it directly at the homepage of the Federal Agency for Civic Education or you can download it there as a pdf.
