Today started with good news! The DDR Museum with its second permanent exhibition is nominated again for the "European Museum of the Year Award" and of course, the joy is great! This nomination is a particular praise to all of us who worked so hard last year to implement the extension of the DDR Museum and the new permanent exhibition's concept.

I absolutely don't have any qualifications in shooting videos. I don't haveany experiences with cameras, directing, I cannot cut... nothing at all!! This is why this video is a premiere and realization of a spontaneous, partly crazy idea. And yes - I am a bit nervous if the viewers will like it.

During two nights, we modified some drawers inside the old exhibition. It took 10 Peole and a lot of hours to achieve what we set out to do. This was hard work, and we would like to thank all involved!

For the television show "Ein Wochenende mit..." (A Weekend with...) Madeleine Wehle (on the right) spent some days with the famous actress Katrin Sass (on the left) in Berlin. Last Friday, they visited the DDR Museum and our restaurant "Domklause". On the terrace they had a place in the sunshine and they tried the "Kapernkochklopse" (Dumplings like those made in Königsberg served on rice with caper sauce) and the "Jägerschnitzel on spiral pasta".

The Long Night of the Museums started at 6 pm. During the eight hours, we had 4849 visitors! We are very happy about that, even if we did not hold our record of nearly 6000 visitors in 8 hours. We do not need to be sad, because there are always less visitors in winter.

2010 was a very successful year for the DDR Museum: We doubled the exhibition space, opened a new restaurant and had 10 percent more visitors than in 2009! Now, we look forward to 2011 :)
