Twenty-five years after the Fall of the Berlin Wall the Deutsche Welle dealt last year in an interesting article with the remembrance of the former GDR.

The article shows, how easy the memory of the former East German state becomes a romanticizing of the GDR. This romantical memory regarding the GDR is called “Ostalgia”. Especially food from the former GDR is still popular, for example “"Rotkäppchen" ("Little Red Riding Hood") sparkling wine from Freyburg, mustard from Bautzen, pickles from the Spreewald, "ImNu" ("ready in a flash") malted coffee or ClubCola” the people still want to buy. The Trabi and some other objects like toys are part of this phenomenon, too.

The author of the article asked experts about the phenomenon “Ostalgia” and tried to find answers, why this phenomenon emerges. And he also spoke with some persons, who gain today their money with the East German products and of course the “Ostalgia”.

So it is an interesting article for everybody, who is interested in the former GDR and the remains of this state.
