The new apprentice of the DDR Museum introduces herself

Dear guests of the DDR Museum, my name is Valerie Holbein, I'm the new apprentice of the DDR Museum. I make an apprenticeship as a Tourism and leisure agent and I'm jointly responsible for the Visitor Relations. I deal with inquiries for guided tours and reservations, answer questions of our guests and I take care that our guests have a successful visit in our museum.

I made my Bachelor of Arts at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in European Studies and Cultural Studies. The last year I've been working as a volunteer in the Hans-Fallada-Museum Carwitz in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. I decided to make an apprenticeship in the DDR Museum because I'm really interested in German contemporary history and I really want to work in a museum in the future. Besides that I want to underpin my theoretical knowledge I learned in studies with the practical application in the museum. I look forward to learning a lot about the GDR and about the work in a museum and so I'm anxious to see how the next 2 years in the DDR Museum will be!
