Everyone who visited the Reisemesse Potsdam (travel fair) at the Metropolis Hall next to Filmpark Babelsberg last weekend, will surely have discovered our stand.
For all those who were not there, we have a little report about the travel fair:
For me as trainee at the DDR Museum, this was the first exhibition where I represented the DDR Museum. Of course, in the beginning you never know what to expect.
However, I had a lot of fun advising the visitors at the fair or at times just having a nice little chat with them.
At 9.30 am my colleague Ms Alperstaedt and me arrived at the Metropolis Hall and made final arrangements at our stand. There were - as you might see on the photo - plenty of flyers, calendars of events, postcards, biros, door hangers etc... And, of course, the visitors were able to get our GDR game, the Wall quiz and the book "Basic knowledge GDR compact" which are usually only sold at the museum or at our online shop.
We were often asked what can be seen in our museum - therefore we were able to talk a lot about the museum and for an even better insight we referred to our video that was shown on our TV at the stand. The visitors were absolutely excited about it!
Our give-aways were more than well received - yes, for example the biros went like hot cakes!
The only bad news: Unfortunetaly the fair wasn't as well attended as we had hoped for. That was a pity really because the offer of the exhibitors was rich in variety, there was something for everyone and every age! And we would have liked to advise even more interested visitors.
Nevertheless, all things considered it was much fun and I am looking forward to the next fair where we will hopefully be able to welcome many visitors again!
