Many years Katrin Strohl worked successfully for the DDR Museum as the Head of Collection. After she devotes herself now to her young family, we could win Sören Marotz as her successor for the management of the collection. He will continue the previous work in proven manner and will place new impulses.

Sören Marotz studied history of science and history of technology, geography as well as newer history at the Technische Universität Berlin and at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. Afterwards he was a trainee and a scientific assistant at the Deutsche Technikmuseum Berlin as well as a project employee at the Zeitgeschichtlichen Forum Leipzig. Later in his career he worked many years as a scientific assistant and exhibition curator for the nexus Institut for corporation management and interdisciplinary research in Berlin

In addition to his work for the DDR Museum, he has two teaching assignments. One for industrial culture ("Industrial culture - structural changes in the Middle German industrial district") the other one for restoration of technical cultural asset ("Electrical engineering at the example of historical properties") at the Technische Universität Berlin and at the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft in Berlin. His apprenticeship as electrician at the "VEB Bergmann-Borsig" is a long time ago, but still very valuable for dealing with the complicated exhibition technology.

You can contact Sören Marotz by phone +49 (0) 30 - 847 123 73-0 or by mail: soeren.marotz@ddr-museum.de.

Welcome to the „Brigade DDR Museum"!
