The chicken or the egg...

which came first? A well known enigma where the answer still generates contrasting opinions among intellectuals since generations. which came first? A well known enigma where the answer still generates contrasting opinions among intellectuals since generations. SONJA PLASTIC, a west Saxonian producer of plastic design objects, does not ask itself this question. Since the beginning of the seventies, chicken and egg boxes belong to the same successful selection of the Wolkensteiner enterprise, set up 90 years ago.

At that time, as today, the colored chicken – a popular DDR egg cup -  was successfully on sale for more than a decade and can be found in German households between Kiel and Chiemsee.

At the end of nineties the plastic chicken became a symbol of the “Ostalgie“. From that moment new designs has been created, which enlarged the colours’ pallette. The new trend is the transparent “plumage”!

The egg box of the same production, instead, is not so sophisticated. It still has the same simple appearing and flat colours. After all it accomplishes the duty to carry eggs successfully and so does not have to be fancy. In the last four decades, it has already being tested during school and on the road trips and camping!
