The GDR in the classroom
The DDR Museum is probably one of the best and most accessible visitor attractions in the world. Founded in 2006, it became one of the most-visited museums in Berlin only a year later. Inviting its visitors to interact with the fabric of its exhibition, the DDR museum takes school groups on a journey back into Germany's Socialist past, providing important insights into life in a dictatorship.
Thousands of school groups have already visited the DDR Museum, coming away enthused by its interactive nature. Many teachers have told us that their pupils were much more engaged by our exhibition than by other museum visits, bringing benefits in learning outcomes. Pupils themselves have given exceptionally good feedback.
