30th Anniversary of the Blues Mess
Concert and Commemoration with Holly`s Blues Band and Prinz Pi
In the years between 1979 and 1986, the huge churches of East Berlin celebrated so called blues messes. These have their origins in the churches youth work and became very popular these days. Because of beeing liturgical, there was a certain protection against state assaults. So it was also possible to discuss about human rights issues and the policy of peace. Therefore, blues messes played an important role for the youth resistant movement in the GDR. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first blues mess, we run novel blues mess inside the Parochialkirche. Holly`s Blues Band with one of the cofounders, Mr. Günther Holwas and the famous rapper Prinz Pi from Berlin will be performing. Combining Blues, HipHop and lectures concerning history and todays interests of young people, the blues mess will be an interesting journey through time.
